Kyle Larson Claims Second-Career Nationwide Series Victory

In his third-career NASCAR Nationwide Series (NNS) start at Charlotte Motor Speedway, Kyle Larson and his Turner Scott Motorsports (TSM) team dominated the latter part of the History 300 and claimed their second victory of the season. It was no surprise that the TSM team had prepared a fast car for the 1.5-mile track when they ranked sixth fastest in the first practice session, followed by seventh fastest in the final session. Larson then advanced through all three qualifying rounds and scored the No. 42 ENEOS Chevrolet Camaro a third-place starting position for the 200-lap race.

As the green flag waved in NASCAR'S heartland, Larson radioed to crew chief Scott Zipadelli that his ENEOS car was tight through the corners on entry. Zipadelli took the opportunity to resolve Larson's issue during the first caution, calling for four new tires, fuel and a small adjustment to loosen up the car. After a tight battle with NASCAR veteran Kyle Busch, Larson took over the third position before green-flag pit stops began to cycle through. Zipadelli called the No. 42 car to pit road for four tires, fuel and a track-bar adjustment just before the second caution arose, putting Larson in the second position while other cars elected to pit. It wasn't long before Larson found a hole through lapped traffic, taking the field three-wide and charging to the front to take the lead from Brad Keselowski. After another round of green-flag pit cycles, Larson and the No. 42 ENEOS car returned to the lead before the fourth and final caution came out. Not taking any chances, Zipadelli called Larson back to pit road for four new tires and fuel, and he returned to the field in the first position after a solid pit stop by the TSM team. The 21-year-old managed to stay up front for a total of 82 laps before leading the pack across the finish line in the No. 42 ENEOS Chevy. Larson's victory at Charlotte Motor Speedway marks his second-career NNS win, as well as TSM's second NNS victory of the season. The No. 42 team currently sits third in the NNS Owner Point Standings.

Notes: Larson led a race-high and career-high 82 laps in the History 300, and remained within the top five throughout the 200-lap race. Aside from his two victories this season, Larson has scored nine top-10 finishes in just 10 starts.

Scott Zipadelli on Victory at Charlotte Motor Speedway:
"Today was a great day for this Turner Scott Motorsports team. We worked to find speed on the inside during practice and I think it benefited us in the long run. Kyle made some great moves on the track today and it was just a matter of a few adjustments to get him where he needed to be to run up front. I think his dirt track experience came into play today; he was able to move around the track to find position rather than just hitting one line. We've learned a lot as a team and organization this year, and I'm looking forward to continued success with Larson this year. We've got a really talented group here."

Kyle Larson on Victory at Charlotte Motor Speedway:
"What a race; that was really fun out there today. I can't thank my Turner Scott Motorsports crew enough for their hard work this weekend. I knew we had a good racecar in practice and qualifying, but when the race got started, I was really tight. Zippy made some good calls to get my car where it needed to be and my pit crew was pretty flawless throughout the race. It feels great to get a second win for this organization; they just keep getting better and better. It's also cool to get ENEOS their first NASCAR win. I'm already looking forward to Dover. Overall, it was a great day for our team and I'm really happy to get my second-career Nationwide Series win."
