No Points For Draco In Monte-Carlo Weekend

Draco Racing didn't reach their goal in Monaco, where F.Renault 3.5 held the third round of the 2014 season. After a difficult start of the weekend, with worse than expected results in Qualifying, the Brazilian team was aiming to finish in the points with at least one car, but things didn't go to plan. Pietro Fantin, who was starting from P10, fought fiercely for the last point-awarding spot for the whole race, but a mistake at the famed Sainte Devote corner on lap 22 saw him clip the wall, hence losing any chance of a top ten finish.

On the team's other car Luca Ghiotto drove a very good race, but starting from 20th place on a track like Monaco his chances to finish in the points were slim to say the least. Still, Luca did his best driving an aggressive race right from the start, when he managed to pass four cars with a lightning-quick getaway. Then, making the most of his improved feeling with the unforgiving monegasque track, Luca recovered another couple of places and took the flag in 14th place.
Now for Draco it's already time to focus on the team's next challenge, as the fourth round of the F.Renault 3.5 championship in Spa is scheduled for next weekend.

Pietro Fantin - P15
"Today our car was much better than in qualifying, even if we still suffered from slight understeer. Despite that we were much quicker than yesterday, but in Monaco there isn't much you can do if you start from the middle of the pack. I was having a decent race in P11 when I made a mistake in Turn 1, clipping the inside kerb: I unsettled the car and touched the wall, and then the anti-stall system came in. I lost time and a few places to disengage it and get back to a normal speed, and it was a pity because after that my pace was again very good, and maybe a points finish could have been in our reach".

Luca Ghiotto – P14
"Compared to Free Practice and Qualifying, today was a bliss for me. Finally, with some more miles under my belt, I felt confident enough to push and it's easy to see that looking at my laptimes. Despite embarking much more fuel, my race pace has been steadily quicker than my qualifying lap, sometimes by nearly a full second, so potential was definitely there. It's a pity but it's racing, especially in Monaco".
