Hawksworth 20th At Indianapolis

Jack Hawksworth fought his way to a 20th place finish in the No. 98 Integrity Energee Drink car on Sunday afternoon for the 98th running of the Indianapolis 500.

Hawksworth started the 200-lap race in 13th on the inside of row five. Quick at times, but sometimes struggling with understeer in heavy traffic mid pack, Hawksworth persevered to bring the Integrity Energy Drink Car home with a solid finish on the famed Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

The first 148 laps of the 500-mile race went caution free, unprecedented for the Greatest Spectacle in Racing. When the yellow flag flew three-quarters of the way to the finish line, the old "yellows breed yellows" adage came to fruition.

With ten laps to go, a final incident in turn two caused a red flag, bringing the entire field to a stop in pit lane. After the lap 194 restart, the green flag remained out and Hawksworth crossed the historic Yard of Bricks in 20th place.

"It was a pretty eventful race," said Hawksworth. "The Integrity Energee Drink car felt pretty good at some points but we struggled at others. It wasn't the result that we were hoping for, but on to Detroit now and we'll try to make up for it there."

Team co-owner Bryan Herta added, "We're happy that Jack completed every lap in his first Indy 500 and proud of the entire BHA crew for their work all race, month and season long. Our race was much like our month, great at times, tough at others, but Jack and the team stayed focused and fought through every challenge."

The 2014 Indianapolis 500 featured 34 lead changes and 11 different race leaders. The action continues next weekend as the Verizon IndyCar Series heads to Belle Isle Raceway for the Chevrolet Indy Dual in Detroit. The sixth and seventh races on the 2014 season schedule will take place on Saturday, May 31 and Sunday, June 1 at 3:30 p.m. ET. Fans can catch both races live on ABC.
