Michela Cerruti Michela Cerruti Takes Third Place In Blancpain GT Race At Silverstone

Michela Cerruti enjoyed a very positive run today in the UK. As she made it back to the Blancpain Endurance Series, the Italian female racer ended up onto the podium with the Roal Motorsport team in the Pro-Am class. The same result she had scored last time around at the Nurburgring in 2013. Michela, who shared a BMW Z4 GT3 with Stefano Comandini and Eugenio Amos, drove during the central stint, showing both speed and consistency.

After a first hour in which Comandini recovered from a contact with a Bentley, and after the top-class display by Michela, an issue in fitting one of the car’s wheels at the pit-stops seemed to have jeopardized the day's results. Amos didn’t back down though, as he completed his team mates’ job by gaining one spot and successfully defending himself from a quick opponent in the closing stages. Michela will now be back at home for her next endeavor. She will race in this weekend’s Auto GP series round at Monza.

Michela Cerruti
“It’s been a very good race. We fought hard for this result and it was great to be back in this series with Roal Motorsport and get another podium after the Nurburgring in 2013. Despite the issues suffered in practice, when we couldn’t test the car’s set-up as we wanted due to heavy rain, in qualifying we hit the top-10 in Pro-Am. A position that we can maybe improve further but that also shows some good progress. My stint has been pretty fluid: I stayed on the same lap times as the frontrunners and brought my car back to the pits in a good position. Despite the time lost in the tire change, then Amos did a great job, recovering one spot and defending himself from another BMW in the closing laps”.
