Whitt Scores Top-30 Finish In Charlotte

Cole Whitt and the No. 26 Speed Stick GEAR Toyota Camry team finished 27th at Charlotte Motor Speedway on Sunday night. After fighting a loose racecar most of the night, Whitt worked closely with his team to refine adjustments and went on to record his seventh top-30 finish of the season.

Whitt rolled off 31st for the longest race of season. In a 600-mile event predicted to take over four hours to complete, Whitt and his BK Racing team knew they would need to make several adjustments to keep up with the changing track conditions throughout the night. Initially fighting a condition that had his car loose entering and exiting the corner and tight through the center, Whitt's Speed Stick GEAR team made a series of chassis adjustments to help the balance of their racecar. As night fell over the 1.5-mile speedway, Whitt continued to fight a loose racecar despite the track being one that typically becomes tighter as the racing surface cools. As the race progressed, the BK Racing team continued to make adjustments to help the handling of their Toyota and Whitt was able to race to the checkered flag without any incidents. After 600 miles of racing, the No. 26 Speed Stick GEAR Toyota Camry was scored with a 27th-place finish.

"Charlotte is always such a tough track," commented Whitt. "It doesn't react to temperature changes like a track usually does, so it's hard to predict exactly how your car will handle when it's time for the race. Our Speed Stick GEAR Toyota Camry was a little bit loose throughout the night, but my team did a good job making changes throughout the night. It's easy to take a big swing at it here and end up going too far with adjustments. I think we were able to learn a few things this week to help us later in the season at similar tracks, so I'm really happy to have that as a takeaway."
