Hard Work On The Minds Of The Geico Honda MX Team

With the first race of the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship series in the books, the four professionals on the vaunted GEICO Honda 250 squad are focused on charging back to the top of the sport at this Saturday's GoPro Hangtown Motocross Classic.

Justin Bogle and Matt Bisceglia had decent starts in Southern California and currently rank sixth and seventh overall, respectively, in the early standings. Teammates Zach Bell and Zach Osborne also had notable rides in Glen Helen but have more work to do -- and in Osborne's case an injury to overcome -- to move up the charts.

Reigning 250SX East champion Bogle had seven podium results and never finished lower than fifth in Supercross action and is looking to get back in the spotlight now that the action has shifted to the outdoors.

"I just want to keep it all going," Bogle said. "Supercross was such an awesome deal and we're still riding that momentum. Like always, starts are important and I'll keep working on that. Most of these races come down to a few turns or chances to pass and you have to be ready to take advantage of those situations. It's going to be a long summer, so it's important to get through every race healthy. So far, so good."

Teammate Bisceglia is focused on having some Bogle-like success and is showing the ability to compete with the leaders every weekend. He'll look to make a bigger impact, and impress some special visitors, in Northern California's farm country.

"I'm going to spend this week working on my speed," said Bisceglia. "I liked everything we did in Glen Helen; I just want to be a tick faster and I'll be with the front group. My fitness is good and my confidence is high. I know I can get closer to the front.

"I can't wait for Hangtown. I lived in Oregon for a while and I have a bunch of crazy friends from there coming down on a road trip to cheer me on. I have to do well for them or they'll give me a hard time forever. Should be a lot of fun."

Focusing on the positive, Bell is happy to be back racing after missing nearly all of the SX season with an injury. His first race back included a few unlucky incidents, but he stayed healthy and is ready for more fun this weekend.

"It's probably going to take a few Motos to totally get back to race level," Bell said. "Still, it felt great to be back on my bike after so many months off. The main thing is to stay healthy and finish every race. The results will come.

"The GEICO Honda team has been so good to me and I want to reward them in the worst way with some good results, but I've learned you have to stay upright and make it to the end of these races to really make an impact."

Osborne remains a question mark for now after suffering an injury to his left thumb when he was caught in a first-turn pileup in Moto 2. A visit with his personal doctor and a team of specialists this week will determine his ability to race moving forward.

MAVTV will carry the first motos live from 1-3 p.m. PT. The second motos will also air live from 3-5 p.m. PT on the NBC Sports Network.
