2014 Dover: Elliott Sadler NASCAR Sprint Cup Race Preview

RACING FOR THE LEAD AT THE MONSTER MILE: Elliott Sadler and the No. 11 OneMain Financial team head to Dover International Speedway this weekend to compete around the one-mile concrete banks. In 12 NASCAR Nationwide Series starts at Dover, Sadler won the pole award in 2011, recorded two top-five and six top-10 finishes with 11 laps led. Sadler has also made 24 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series starts at Dover with three top-10 finishes and 188 laps led.

JUST THE STATS: One third of the way through the 2014 Nationwide Series season, Sadler is currently in second place in the Nationwide Series driver champion point standings, five points back from the lead. The Emporia, Va., native has one win, one pole award, five top-five and eight top-10 finishes in 11 of 33 races.

LOOKING IN THE MIRROR: At the May 2013 event at Dover International Speedway, Sadler qualified in the 18th position, and struggled with a loose-handling condition for much of the day. Unable to control the loose Toyota, Sadler collided with the inside wall, relegating the team to a 28th-place finish.

ELLIOTT SADLER QUOTES: "Dover has always been a unique track to race at during our long, grueling season. Besides Bristol, Dover is the only other concrete racetrack on our Nationwide Series schedule. Dover is prime example where it takes a complete team effort to be successful. Teams either figure out the race conditions or they spend a very long day trying to keep up with the field. You can have a fast race car and compete for the win at Daytona or Talladega, but if you don't have your car tuned in for the slick concrete turns and fast banked straightaways, you won't have a chance to win at Dover. Fortunately, I was able to come to Dover a few weeks ago for a Goodyear tire test, and as a team we were very satisfied with our results and feel very confident going into this Saturday's race."

RACE INFO: The Buckle Up 200 at Dover International Speedway will be on ESPN at 2:30 p.m. ET, on Saturday, May 31st, as well as MRN and SIRIUSXM 90.

AUTISM AWARENESS: Autism Awareness is a cause near and dear to Sadler's heart. His niece was diagnosed with Autism years ago, and Sadler and his brother started the Hermie and Elliott Sadler Foundation to raise funds and garner awareness for the condition. This weekend, the No. 11 OneMain Financial Toyota will sport a special decal to support the cause. Sadler will also participate in the Drive for Autism Golf Tournament in Wilmington, DE.

BRANCH DECAL PROGRAM: For each race that OneMain Financial is the primary sponsor on the No. 11 Toyota, two branches will be highlighted on Sadler's rear quarter panels. The branches selected for Dover are No. 026 in Pennsville, NJ, and No. 179 in Brooklawn, NJ.

THINK PINK: The OneMain Financial driver will sport pink Oakley driving shoes throughout the entire Nationwide Series season to show support for breast cancer awareness and honor his mom, Bell. She was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2007, and is now a survivor. Fans will have the opportunity to bid on his race-worn shoes throughout the season, with proceeds going toward breast cancer research and education.
