Rev Racing Heads To The Madhouse

Rev Racing heads to Bowman Gray Stadium this weekend to compete in the NASCAR Hall of Fame 150. After placing two drivers in the top-10 during their last outing, the Rev Racing team is pushing for similar results at the quarter-mile flat asphalt oval in Winston-Salem, N.C. Known as a brutally difficult track to navigate, Saturday’s race will mark only the forth time ever that the K&N Pro Series East has competed at Bowman Gray Stadium.

Ryan Gifford (No. 2 UTI/NASCAR Tech Toyota) - Gifford, a Winston-Salem resident, is fresh off of his second NASCAR Nationwide appearance. After a flat-tire at the Casey’s General Store 150 put a damper on his come-from-behind top-10 effort, Gifford is looking to reclaim that missed opportunity this weekend. Gifford is one of five members of the current NASCAR Next class racing this weekend, and one of only two drivers to have competed in all four NKNPSE races at Bowman Gray Stadium. Gifford is currently 20th in the point standings with 144 points.

Jay Beasley (No. 42 Toyota Racing Development Toyota) - Beasley will make his Bowman Gray debut with the momentum of his first NKNPSE top-5 finish behind him after placing fourth at Iowa Speedway two weeks ago.

"Coming off my first top-5 at Iowa is amazing," Beasley said. "I enjoy racing on really small tracks, so this should be fun. The team has been working hard on the car to be ready for the race. Time to get my bucket list out and cross off Bowman Gray."

Beasley is currently 18th in the point standings with 158 points.

Daniel Suarez (No. 6 Silent Circle/Telcel Toyota) - With two wins, three top fives, and four top tens this season with Rev Racing, Suarez heads to Bowman Grey looking to continue his impressive 2014 campaign. Despite spinning out and falling to 18th place half-way through his last race, Suarez still managed to improve 11 spots and finish seventh by race’s end. If Suarez and the No. 6 Toyota Camry can manage the same performance displayed at Iowa, without any setbacks, there’s a good chance Suarez, who finished 9th last year at Bowman Gray, can add another top-5 to his résumé. He is currently ranked fourth in the point standings with 202 points.

Sergio Peña (No. 4 L&M Ethanol Toyota) - Finishing one place shy of the top-10 at Iowa Speedway, Peña is looking to elevate his positioning. Unintimidated by the reputation of the Madhouse, Peña is confident that a solid qualifying effort will produce positive results.

“Bowman Gray is definitely one of the most difficult races of the year because so much is out of your hands,” said Peña. “Patience is so important in order to keep the car in one piece, so our goal is to get a top 5 qualifying spot and stay out front all night to avoid the chaos that goes on from the middle to the back of the pack.”

Peña is currently 19th in the point standings with 156 points.

Mackena Bell (No. 21 Special Smiles/Lung Force Toyota) - In her second season racing in the KNPSE, Bell returns to Bowman Gray, where she received her second career top-10 of the series. Bell is currently ranked 17th in the point standings and second for Rev Racing with 163 points.

Two-lap qualifying for the NASCAR Hall of Fame 150 will be Saturday, May 31 at 6:00 p.m. followed by an autograph session at 6:45 p.m. The race begins at 9:00 p.m. Follow @RevRacin on Twitter for live race updates.

The NASCAR Hall of Fame 150 will air June 7 on Fox Sports 1 at 10:30 a.m.
