2014 NHRA: Englishtown Could Bring Arana Jr.'s First Win Of The Season

Pro Stock Motorcycle rider Hector Arana Jr. has won seven times in his short career, and he's looking to make it eight this weekend at the Toyota NHRA Summernationals at Old Bridge Township Raceway Park.

The Lucas Oil Buell has been consistent so far this season, but not to the standards of Arana Racing. After starting the 2013 NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series season with three straight wins, Arana is looking to return to that level of reliability.

"After Atlanta and this season in general, I hope the motor is ready to go and is solid," Arana said. "Once we fix the problem we've been having, we will be able to give it our best shot. I know we are capable of being the top contenders at every track we go to; we just have to get over this hurdle first. We're working hard and making progress, and the results will follow shortly, I know it."

The Lucas Oil team has been working all season to get back to the No. 1 spot, and Arana knows the hard work is going to have to continue to get there.

There is, however, one thing that Arana would like to change this weekend: Beating his father, Hector Sr., in eliminations. In the past two trips to Englishtown, Arana has matched up against his dad "the Hammer" and has fallen short both times, so he's looking for redemption.

"Englishtown is a fast track and I think we can do really well there," Arana said. "I've had success there before but just always came up a bit short, especially when I race against my dad. I'm hoping this year that's not the case and we can take it all the way. I'm ready to get a win this season; it's been a while."

Arana will look to secure his first win of the season starting with qualifying sessions at 4 and 6:15 p.m., Friday, and 12:45 and 3:15 p.m., Saturday. Eliminations will start at approximately 11 a.m., Sunday, with both qualifying and elimination action broadcast on ESPN2.
