Today sees the presentation of the new racing helmet that the several times champion - official fan of the Alfa Romeo brand for the whole of 2014 - will wear on 31 May for the qualifiers for the Grand Prix at Mugello, the sixth date in the 2014 MotoGP World Championship.

The first of a special series due for launch in the course of the season, the unique helmet is customised with the legendary 'Quadrifoglio Verde' logo, the symbol that has identified the most high-performance vehicles made by Alfa Romeo since 1923, not only cars competing on the world's racetracks, but also certain special production versions.

The helmet for Mugello required 40 hours of work to reproduce the unique graphics created directly by Jorge Lorenzo and followed through all its production stages. In detail, the shell was first dulled with special sandpaper, then the graphics and paint were applied using pre-cut vinyl masks and, finally, it was customised with dedicated adhesives. The result is a unique, captivating item which pays homage to one of the most famous symbols in the world of motorsports: Alfa Romeo's 'Quadrifoglio Verde'.

The public will be able to admire two green four-leaf clovers ("quadrifogli") on the sides of the helmet, close to the visor, which already bears the Alfa Romeo logo - the same symbol is positioned in the upper area - while a series of red four-leaf small clovers adorn the side bands, with Alfa Red background. The graphics are rounded off with 'Alfa Romeo' text at the back.

Official rider of the Movistar Yamaha MotoGP team, Jorge Lorenzo - the only Spaniard to have won two titles in the premier class of motorcycle racing - has chosen the symbol and lucky charm that first appeared on the Alfa Romeo 'RL' of Ugo Sivocci which won the 14th edition of the Targa Florio in 1923. Since then, all of Alfa Romeo's racing cars were distinguished by this emblem known throughout the world, the same which characterised certain standard production Alfa Romeos from the 1960s onwards.

In the saddle of his official Yamaha YZR-M1, several times champion Jorge Lorenzo is tackling the 2014 MotoGP World Championship with the Alfa Romeo logo featured prominently on his racing suit and helmet, sealing an important agreement between one of the most well-known and appreciated racers at an international level and the Alfa Romeo brand, which superbly expresses Italian style and motoring experience together with a unique, winning spirit made of challenges and competition.
