2014 Detroit: Andretti Autosport IndyCar Practice Recap

Ryan Hunter-Reay, No. 28 DHL Honda Reigning Indianapolis 500 champion led this morning's practice session Championship points leader completed the first day back on track fifth fastest "I think it was a good day. We had a great first session - we led - and in the second session, we only used one set of tires, so we've got some tires in the back pocket for the rest of the weekend. I think we've got a pretty good car for qualifying - we'll see how it goes on session at a time. I'm not quite sure why the car quit early, but it just stalled and wouldn't refire."

James Hinchcliffe, No. 27 United Fiber & Data Honda

Canadian was eighth fastest over today's two practice sessions on the 2.35-mile course "I like the schedule change here in Detroit with the fact that we get two practice sessions; I think that really helps everybody out. This place is a challenge every time we come - the track is very bumpy, surface changes and all that. All in all, I think we made some gains from Practice One to Practice Two, which is good. If we can make that kind of jump again heading into qualifying, I think we'll be in a pretty good position. Qualifying is going to be tough; it's going to be about who's the bravest because this track is pretty tricky, but fingers crossed the United Fiber & Data car will be up there."

Carlos Muñoz, No. 34 Cinsay Honda

Finished his day fastest rookie of the day and P12 overall Currently ranked the highest rookie (sixth) in points "This track seems pretty difficult for everyone...especially for the rookies. This is a really tough track, and you're always on the limit. I have to improve for tomorrow; we'll go back and analyze everything since tomorrow is so important with qualifying and the first race. We'll work tonight and try to be better for tomorrow."

Marco Andretti, No. 25 Snapple Honda

Lies fifth in the championship points fight following the Indy 500 where he finished third Third-generation racer was P16 over two practice sessions "We had brake problems in Practice Two - Practice One was okay, we tried a little experiment but it didn't work out and we weren't able to reset to what we thought would be the good set up because of the brake issues we had in Practice Two. It's very unfortunate since that was 50% of our practice for the weekend, so we're at a little bit of a deficit for tomorrow, but we'll see what we can do on the (Firestone) Reds tomorrow."
