Stats - GoPro Hangtown Motocross Classic


• Hangtown enters its 46th year as a motocross national. It is the oldest race on the schedule.
• Riders from eight different countries will attempt to qualify for the 250 and 450 Classeson Saturday afternoon.

• The Hangtown Motocross Classic has traditionally been the opening round of the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship. This year marks the first time since 2009 it hasn't been first on the schedule.
• Red Bull KTM's Ryan Dungey holds the 450 Class points lead after one round of racing. Yamalube/Star Racing/Yamaha's Jeremy Martin holds the 250 Class points lead with a dominant 1-1 sweep at the opening round.
• Martin's victory at the season opener gave Yamaha its first overall win in the 250 Class since 2004, and served as the Minnesota native's first career victory in the class.
• With his win at round one, Dungey now holds the sole second place position on the All-Time Race Wins list with 28 career victories in the 450 Class. Ricky Carmichael holds the All-Time record with 76 career 450 Class wins.

450 Class Stats
• The first Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship race was held at Hangtown on April 8, 1974, with Billy Grossi winning on a Honda.
• This will be the 41st time the gate will drop for the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship at Hangtown.
• Ricky Carmichael is the winningest rider at Hangtown with five victories.
• James Stewart earned his first 450 Class victory at Hangtown in 2006. Since then, Stewart has captured two additional wins at Hangtown, in 2008 and 2012.
• Yamaha has not won at Hangtown since 2000 when David Vuillemin earned his inaugural 450 Class victory.
• Chad Reed ended a six-year drought for Honda at Hangtown in 2011. He also won Hangtown the year before on a Kawasaki.
• From 2002 to 2008, only two riders won at Hangtown: Ricky Carmichael and James Stewart. Carmichael captured four straight victories from 2002-2005. Since then, only three additional riders have won: Mike Alessi, Chad Reed and Ryan Villopoto.
• Mike Alessi's first-career victory in both the 250 Class and 450 Class came at Hangtown.
