MEMO ROJAS: "Qualifying didn’t go as good as we expected. We were battling for the first few spots and we brushed the wall (on the third lap) and bent the suspension. Unfortunately that hurt the car and it wasn’t the same afterward. We were losing a lot of speed on the lefthanders because it was pushing a lot. Turns out the suspension was bent and that just kept us from posting a better lap time and fighting for the pole. I think it’s the first time I hit the car in qualifying, ever. So yeah, it’s disappointing but it’s a long race and we know the car is good so hopefully we’ll go get up front."

SCOTT PRUETT: "Certainly not what we expected in qualifying. Unfortunately Memo got into the wall early and bent the front suspension and just couldn’t make anything happen after that. Starting eighth is not exactly where you want to start here, on a real tough street circuit like this, but the Telcel EcoBoost (Riley prototype) has been running good and we were really happy with where we finished in practice two, in p1, so we’ll go back, we’ll fix it and go racing tomorrow."

EVERY REDEMPTION STORY STARTS BADLY. THIS COULD BE ONE OF THEM. "Belle Isle owes us one," Pruett said with a laugh. "We’ve been here the last few years and last year I think we made three turns and got fenced. Hopefully we can make it a lot further this year."

OZZ NEGRI: AFTER THE 2nd PRACTICE SESSION, THE 60 TEAM CHANGED THE GEARBOX. TAKE US THROUGH THE PRACTICES AND QUALIFYING. "The car came off the trailer really good. It was p1 on that first session. In the second session, we had a gearbox issue so we couldn’t develop from there. For the qualifying, we just thought about doing a few things in the car and it got better, but it was not enough. We needed more than that. I think we have a good car. I think we are going to race a lot better than being p6 and in qualifying. The tires took way too long to get up to pressure and even at the last session, the left front wasn’t there all the way. So we are going to do some more brainstorming here and then come up for something good for tomorrow and get it done tomorrow. I think we’re going the right way. The guys did a great job. We had to change the complete gearbox before qualifying and it was done minutes before it."

JOHN PEW: "It will be an interesting race, because the GTD’s are here and there will be traffic. In practice we had a lot of traffic, so it was very difficult to get clear laps. People will probably take some chances. That may bode well for us. It has before. We try to keep ourselves really clean and out of trouble and hopefully fingers crossed we do the same thing. I think Ozz showed we have a pretty fast car in qualifying. He did a great job getting that car up where he did. We struggled a little bit in the second practice session. Both of us did. We learned some things and I think we’ll have a good car."
