Round six of the 2014 Verizon Indycar season kicks off today with the Chevrolet Indy Dual in Detroit on the Belle Isle street circuit in Detroit, Michigan. The circuit is a 2.346-mile, 13-turn street circuit temporary street circuit. The winner driver will take the checkers after completing 70 laps.

This is the sixth IndyCar race at the track which debuted in 2007 with Tony Kanaan taking the victory. The series then skipped this circuit from 2009 - 2011, and resumed in 2012. In 2013, the series began running dual events - two races each weekend.

Pole sitters haven't been guaranteed success at this track and have won once in five IndyCar events. During during the CART years, the Pole sitter won twice in 10 races. So good luck to Helio Castroneves and his No. 3 Team Penske Chevrolet, but the odds are not in your favor.

That bring said, Detroit has a history of being tough to pass, and being kind to the cars up front. The worst starting position for an IndyCar to win at Detroit is sixth - out of five events. Which means that James Hinchcliffe, Jack Hawksworth, Mike Conway should be able to make a run for the win.

Overall, Detroit has been won from fourth or better four of five times with IndyCars, and seven of 10 times with the CART series.

As for the 2014 IndyCar season trend, no driver has won from the front row. While the third and fourth starting positions have accounted for three of the five wins. The other best starting place on the grid is.... 17th or lower - Mike Conway won from 17th at Long Beach, and Ryan Hunter-Reay won the 2014 Indianapolis 500 from 19th.

For today's winner, we are going to go with.... Helio Castroneves. His Penske prepared IndyCar is just on rails, he is going to be a factor today.

Should Castroneves fail, keep an eye on Mike Conway who won here last year.

Enjoy today's race, and look for the wheels of fate to keep it interesting. The 2014 IndyCar season is off to a solid start and should be a thrilling battle for the championship.
