Dominant Third Victory For Tom Blomqvist

Tom Blomqvist secured his third win of the 2014 FIA Formula 3 European Championship when he won race one of the weekend at Hungary in dominant style.

Blomqvist started on the front row and managed to snatch the lead away from Esteban Ocon as soon as the green flag was shown. For the first few laps, he was able to withstand pressure from behind but by lap four had a comfortable one second lead and 11 laps later had set the fastest lap of the race. Blomqvist crossed the line by over four seconds and took a dominant win for the Jagonya Ayam with Carlin team.

“I had a very good start, which I think was the pivotal point of race,” said race winner Blomqvist. “Then my aim was just to drive my own race. The team gave me an extremely good car so then it was down to me not to make any mistakes and be consistent. I’m really happy.”

Blomqvist returns to the track this afternoon for qualifying and race two and three of the weekend will continue on Sunday.
