Nagashima Makes Dry Set-Up Improvements In Mugello

Japanese rider Tetsuta Nagashima shaved a further eight-tenths of a second off his best dry weather lap time aboard his Teluru team JiR Webike Moto2 machine during qualifying for Sunday’s Grand Prix of Italy.

The 21-year-old was hoping for better following yesterday’s fourth-place in the wet session, but frustrations with traffic didn’t give him the opportunity he needed for a better time. Still, the Japanese rider is still very positive for tomorrow’s race and he admits he can make still further improvements to his TSR Moto2 machine before the race.

It was another close session, with two seconds covering the top 24 riders. Heading the front row for the race is series leader Esteve Rabat from Britain’s Sam Lowes with Sandro Cortese in third.

Tetsuta Nagashima, Teluru team JiR Webike rider: best lap 1m 54.958s

“Since we had the wet session yesterday afternoon, there were still some things that we had to try today, so we spent some time testing different settings in the qualifying session this afternoon. As I had quite a comfortable feeling at the end, we put the new tyres on and tried to attack, and try and make a quick lap time. Despite this good feeling, I struggled to pass the riders in front of me and unfortunately I could not make as good a lap time as I expected. Therefore, my feeling overall is positive, and I'm really enjoying the weekend. We will continue working a little bit more for tomorrow and get ready for the race which I’m hoping will be positive for us.”

Grand Prix of Italy, Mugello – Qualifying session results:

1. Esteve RABAT – 1’ 52.718s

4. Jonas FOLGER - 1'53.008s - +0.290s

5. Dominique AEGERTER - 1'53.093s - +0.375s

27. Tetsuta NAGASHIMA - 1'54.958s - +2.240s
