Simeon 17th And Baldassarri 23th In Mugello Qualifying

Xavier Siméon will start from seventeenth on the grid of tomorrow’s Italian Grand Prix: in this afternoon's qualifying session at Mugello the Team Federal Oil Gresini Moto2 rider continued to work hard but failed to significantly improve his lap times from the free practice. Tomorrow morning, during the warm up, the Belgian will try some changes to the bike set-up with his technicians looking for more rear grip, in order to improve his pace and try to gain positions in the race.

Lorenzo Baldassarri will put his Team Gresini Moto2 Suter in 23rd position on the grid: the young Italian rookie reached a good feeling with the bike in the final part of qualifying and as a result he managed to keep a good pace and that's why he’s confident of being able to fight tomorrow for a point scoring position.

XAVIER SIMEON (17th - 1'53"827)
“I’m not happy at all, we are struggling more than expected and at the moment we don’t know how to improve. I was hoping to lower my lap times during qualifying, but the improvement was actually very minimal. Now we have to think for a solution in order to be more competitive tomorrow, because we suffer a lack of rear grip and we lose ground on all the track”.

LORENZO BALDASSARRI (23rd - 1'54"265)
“Today we worked really hard, but in the first half of the qualifying I was struggling a lot and so I was worried; but then we made some changes to the bike set-up and I was able to improve, so I'm satisfied. Now I can bring more speed into the corner, because my feeling is better: something is still missing, so the goal now is to make another step forward tomorrow morning during the warm-up, then in the race I will give the maximum, trying to make a good start and to fight for a point scoring position”.

FAUSTO GRESINI
“Unfortunately we didn’t improve as expected with Xavier and the position on the grid is obviously not the best for tomorrow’s race. However, we remain confident because tomorrow morning we still have a little time in the warm up to try some new solutions and I'm sure that all the team will push hard to allow Siméon to recover some positions in the race. Baldassarri did a big step forward during qualifying: now he’s consistent, so if he will get a good start he can definitely fight to get some points”.
