Nagashima Fights Hard At Mugello

Japanese rider and Moto2 rookie Tetsuta Nagashima battled hard during today’s Moto2 race but was disappointed with his result after an impressive showing during wet practice.

The 21-year-old Teluru team JiR Webike rider was in fourth during Friday’s wet session, but the good weather held for today’s race which meant he struggled with his Moto2 machine against more experienced opposition and was unable to get close to his qualifying best time.

Today’s race was won by series leader Esteve Rabat, who eventually closed down and passed initial leaders Luis Salom and Jonas Folger who finished in second and third places. Moto 2 now takes a two week break and returns to Spain and the Catalunya circuit near Barcelona.

Tetsuta Nagashima, Teluru team JiR Webike’s rider: best lap 1m 55.481s

"It was very hard and stressful race as I could not ride at all as I wanted. All I could do was to try to finish the race without crashing while giving all that I could give. I was overtaken on the straights by lots of riders and overtook them back on the corners and this just continued from the start of the race till the end. When the tyres were fresh, it was easier, but after the middle of the race when I lost the grip of the rear tyre it just had made it even more difficult to control the bike. I wanted to win the battle between myself and Azlan Shah at least, but even this was impossible so I'm just really disappointed. Barcelona will be again a track which I will ride at the first time, but as we know our current problems which have to be solved, we will work hard with the team to get ready for it.”
