Change of course for Joel Camathias’ programme in the International GT Open 2014: the Swiss driver, having taken note of the decision of Black Bull Swiss Racing, with whom he had to race the entire season, to stop their sporting activity after the opening round at the Nuerburgring, has reached an agreement with Autorlando Sport for the rest of the season. Joel will drive the Porsche 911 R prepared and entered in the GTS class by the Italian squad, partnered with Matteo Beretta, the young and fast Italian driver.

It is almost a return to the roots, given that Joel and the team of Orlando Redolfi have worked together many times in the past, obtaining the first overall title of Joel in the GT Open (2007), and the GT2 title in the European Le Mans Series in 2006, on top of finishing second at the Spa 24 Hours in 2005.

The new outfit will make its debut this weekend (7-8 June) in the second round of the GT Open, to be held at Portimão, Portugal.

Joel Camathias:

“Recent days have been a little bit hectic, following the decision of Black Bull Swiss Racing to stop racing. It has come as a surprise! Clearly, I found myself without a drive and had to rebuild my programme in the GT Open. I immediately contacted Autorlando, as I have a long-standing friendship with Orlando Redolfi and her daughter Rossella. To find an agreement has been easy and I am happy to be back with them. I hope we can be as successful as in the past, when we took top honors in the GT Open and the ELMS. To be back at the wheel of a Porsche is no problem at all, I know the car well and my new team mate, Matteo Beretta, is fast. I am very happy to have found this solution to the unexpected issue that has risen and look forward to embark in this new venture with Autorlando.”
