2014 Pocono: Michael Annett NASCAR Sprint Cup Race Preview

NASCAR Sprint Cup Series rookie Michael Annett has experienced a few firsts already this year - his first Daytona 500, his first race at Martinsville and his first All-Star Race weekend - but this Sunday at Pocono Raceway in Long Pond, Pa., he will tread a new path on his personal journey to Cup Series stardom. He'll take to a track with three turns instead of four, which resembles nothing like he's ever seen.

A graduate of the NASCAR Nationwide Series, Annett has never competed at the triangle-shaped racetrack. That doesn't mean success isn't in the cards - the track has a history of mixing things up. It has seen seven different winners across the last eight races there, and played host to wins by Carl Edwards in 2005 and Denny Hamlin in 2006, both in their first ever visits to the facility.

Annett, who participated in a test session there last week, hopes to follow in their footsteps.

The race airs live on Sunday, June 8 at 1 pm Eastern on TNT.

"We tested there last week and before that I had never been there. It's truly a unique track, a unique place. We'll continue to learn during the practice sessions to see if there's anything else we can gain. I'm confident that we can make strides over the course of the weekend."
