Plenty Of Novelties For Spa Round 4 Of Formula Renault 2.0 Alps

If in Imola and Pau the Dutch Nyck de Vries, (Koiranen GP) proved to be the undisputed ruler, in Austria all changed with the young Russian driver Matevos Isaakyan (just turned 16), who seized both races with the JD Motorsport colors, also achieving second place overall in the Championship. Behind him there is another 16 y/o driver: George Russell. The Brit, de Vries team mate, has so far scored two podiums. Watch out though for the French Simon Gachet (Arta Engineering), not quite lucky in Spielberg.

The fourth driver to look out for is the Monaco driver Charles Leclerce (Fortec Motorsports), who showed already his potential ending up in the top six in the last four races. In Austria first podium (second) instead for the Italian Cram Motorsport driver Alessio Rovera.

In Spa there will be though plenty of novelties. Apart from the already announced Brazilian Pietro Fittipaldi, grandson of the legendary twice F1 World Champion Fittipaldi, who will race with the debuting team MGR Motorsport, also the British Raoul Owens will compete for the first time in the Series. He will be a wild card, thus not collecting points, as the Mexican Jorge Cevallos who will still race for Fortec Motorsports which will line up also the Croatian Martin Kodric, the other Brazilian Thiago Vivacqua, and the English Ben Barnicoat and Sebastien Morris. To be pointed out the debut of the Austrian Stefan Riener, racing on the second car of Cram Motorsport, for a full grid of about 30 cars.

Both races, each on the usual 25’ plus a lap distance, will be live streamed on www.renaultsportitalia.it. Race 1 is set for Saturday morning at 11.15 while Race 2 will start on Sunday at 10.30. Friday will be the day dedicated to free practices (9-11) and to qualify starting from 16.45.

The Championship (top 10): 1. Nyck de Vries NDL (Koiranen GP) 130; 2. Matevos Isaakyan RUS (JD Motorsport) 68; 3. George Russell GBR (Koiranen GP) 65; 4. Simon Gachet FRA (Arta Engineering) 62; 5. Charles Leclerc MC (Fortec Motorsports) 50; 6. Alessio Rovera ITA (Cram Motorsport) 26; 7. Alex Bosak POL (Prema Powerteam) e Andrew Tang SIN (Prema Powerteam) 24; 9. Dario Capitanio ITA (BVM Racing) and Sebastien Morris GBR (Fortec Motorsports) 23.
