2014 Texas: Tyler Young NASCAR Truck Race Recap

Midland, Texas native Tyler Young has found success in his last two NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) starts and his most recent came in Friday night's WinStar World Casino & Resort 400 at Texas Motor Speedway (TMS) in Fort Worth. The Sunoco Rookie of the Year contender turned a track-best start into a career-best finish at the 1.5-mile fast-paced, high-banked oval.

Young started the sixth race on the 2014 Truck Series schedule from the inside of row nine in the 17th position and ran as high as 12th before settling into the top-15 just past the half-way mark in the 167-lap event. Crew chief Bryan Berry brought the No. 02 Standard Structures Inc. Chevrolet down pit road four times during the event under each caution at laps 36, 46, 55 and 105, respectfully. As a result, Young was able to stretch his fuel window in the final 58 lap stint, when most teams were forced to come down pit road, and the 23-year-old Midlander would cross the stripe in the 15th position.

• Young made his third start at Texas Motor Speedway in Friday night's WinStar World Casino 400
• Young's 15th-place finish was a career-best for the Midland, Texas native
• The strong finish marked the second time in two races Young has finished inside the top-20
• Young's previous best finish was in last week's Lucas Oil 200 at Dover (Del.) International Speedway
• Young was the second-highest finishing 2014 Sunoco Rookie of the Year contender
• Matt Crafton won the 18th annual WinStar World Casino & Resort 400, his fifth victory in 322 NCWTS starts, his first win at TMS and second win of the 2014 season
• Justin Lofton, Joe Nemecheck, Ryan Blaney and John Wes Townley rounded out the top-five
• Matt Crafton leads the point standings by 11 points over his teammate Johnny Sauter
• The Young's Motorsports team will return to action at Gateway Motorsports Park in St. Louis, MO for the first time since 2010 in next Saturday's Drivin for Linemen 200

Quote - Tyler Young:
"It was a good weekend. We unloaded pretty decent off the truck and I knew we would be a top-15 contender. I just feel like as a team we keep getting better and better every week - the trucks are getting better, I'm getting better. I just need to keep working on myself, especially with restarts, and keep learning as much as I can. You have to bring these trucks home in one piece to do that, and we have done that the last two weeks. I would definitely consider it a successful weekend, a step in the right direction for our program. It was great to have a strong run for all my family and friends that are here cheering me on and I can't thank Standard Structures Inc. for their support this weekend."
