"Our plan A worked to perfection! We had a really bad qualifying draw during the weekend, and I think our best performance of the week was qualifying second. That set the tone coming into today - that let us know that we had the pace again. Then it was just on to me not making any mistakes and staying focused, and we were able to do that in every single heat race."

Tanner Foust, No. 34 Rockstar Energy Drink Volkswagen Polo

- Recorded two P1 finishes in both X Games Austin heat sessions
- Suffered contact in the quarterfinals - forcing retirement from the semifinal round

"Not a good start to the season. Today didn't turn out well, to be honest I think our two Volkswagen Polos were by far the two fastest cars after the first heat. It took me a little while to get up to Scott's speed and by the second heat things were pretty even. I had good starts, winning each of them in the Rockstar Energy Drink Volkswagen. I thought I had won the third heat's start, but ended up getting into a little bit of contact and ended up pushing my car in the wrong direction. By the time I got back on line I was completely sideways, hit the gravel trap and had the most gentle roll ever. The car has very little damage, but it meant that we had to retire from the race entirely. Super bummed not only for the result, but also for the Andretti team. I cannot thank the Andretti team enough, they have worked really hard and have had a huge amount of success turning these cars into rocket ships. Looking forward to the next race in DC and hopefully we can walk away with a better finish."
