2014 Texas: Andretti Autosport IndyCar Race Recap

Carlos Muñoz, No. 34 Cinsay Honda
• Came to the checkered flags in 13th place and was seen as high as P3
• Maintains the highest ranked rookie in the championship points fight in sixth (unofficial)

"When I made that mistake (spinning in pit lane), I just braked to get down to the speed limit, and I just lost the car completely. There was nothing I could do, and before that we were running really good, really fast. Even after that happened, the Cinsay car was still really good, and I think we could have finished in the top positions. I'm just a little disappointed with that mistake, but it's experience for next time. Now we'll move on - we have testing next week, and I'll try to think about that instead."

James Hinchcliffe, No. 27 United Fiber & Data Honda
• Finished tonight's race under the lights in the 15th position
• Tied for 11th in the championship at 180 points (unofficial)

"It's shocking - right from the word 'go,' I was hanging on for dear life. I don't know what happened. The United Fiber & Data Honda was so good in final practice last night, and from the drop of the green, we were struggling. There were times when the car was so loose, we were, like I said, just hanging on. Rough day for the team all around; I feel bad for all the guys as they put in a lot of hard work. We'll take a look at it and just try to rebound in a couple weeks."

Ryan Hunter-Reay, No. 28 DHL Honda
• The Indy 500 winner took the green flag from the 12th position
• Was shown as high as fifth place before retiring on Lap 136 with mechanical issues, recording a 19th-place result

"(The car) just lost power all of a sudden then we had an oil pressure alarm, I tried to get down to the apron because I thought we were maybe spilling oil everywhere... We had made a change on that last stop that I thought would bring us into the game. We were running seventh and still had a shot at it. It was a long night and we needed the points most of all, so really disappointed for the DHL team."

Marco Andretti, No. 25 Snapple Honda
• Third-generation racer started from the 17th position and powered his way up to eighth on the start of the race
• Suffered a mechanical issue and an in-car fire on Lap 3, ending the night early in 22nd place; Andretti was unharmed

"We had a decent start going. I'm absolutely gutted for the whole Snapple crew; I wanted nothing more than to deliver a win on their home turf. This one is frustrating and really hurts for the championship."
