2014 Canada GP: Formula One F1 Race Results - Ricciardo, Red Bull Win!

By Mike Sulka

Red Bull Formula One F1 driver Daniel Ricciardo picked up a thrilling win at the 2014 Canadian Grand Prix in Montreal, Canada. For, Ricciardo it it his first win of the 2014 season and first career Formula One F1 victory. It was also his first win at Canada. Ricciardo took the lead from an ailing Rosberg with a great pass with four laps to go.

For Red Bull, it was the team's first victory of 2014, and 48th triumph in the team's history.

Nico Rosberg and his No. 6 would finish second while fighting brake problems. For the German, it is his seventh podium of the 2014 Formula One F1 season, and 18th of his career. The podium extends Rosberg's lead over Lewis Hamilton in the 2014 Formula One F1 world drivers points championship with nearly a full race cushion.

For Mercedes, they became the most successful team since the 1988 McLaren squad at Monaco, but today they would fail to keep their perfect season alive.

Sebastian Vettel and his No. 1 Red Bull would pick up his second podium of the year, and 64th of his career.

Jenson Button and his No. 22 would finish fourth after a last-lap incident with Felipe Massa (Williams) hitting the rear of Sergio Perez (Force India) putting both drivers hard into the tyre barriers and bringing out the second Safety Car of the day.

Nico Hulkenberg and his No. 27 would round out the top-five finishers followed by Fernando Alonso (Ferrari), Valtteri Bottas (Williams), Jean-Eric Vergne (Toro Rosso), Kevin Magnussen (McLaren), and Kimi Raikkonen (Ferrari).

Lewis Hamilton and his No. 44 Mercedes race ended on lap 48 - while running second - after his brakes failed. Until that point, he had given Rosberg all he could handle.

The two Marussia retired early with after contact just four turns into the event disabled the cars of Max Chilton and Jules Bianchi.

Next up, the Formula One F1 series will race at the 2014 Austrian Grand Prix in two weeks.
