Algarve GT Open Report

Excellent weekend for Joel Camathias in the second round of the International GT Open 2014 in his come-back at the wheel of a Porsche 911 R and with the Autorlando Sport squad. Together with his team mate, Italy’s Matteo Beretta, the Swiss has conquered a 5th and a 4th places in the two races of the closely-fought GTS category, finishing very close to the podium.

This promises well for the remainder of the season, also taking into account the set-up issues encountered at the Algarve, a track notably not liked by the Porsches. Despite this, Joel and the team could bring home two good results, thet they will try to improve as from the next round, in Jerez (Spain, in two weeks.

Joel Camathias:

“I am quite happy with this outing, but it was tohugh! I had forgotten how hard it is to drive the Porsche on some track, like this one. We struggled a lot with the balance of the car, and could never come up with something acceptable. The rear tires got destroyed after a few laps. Matteo Beretta and I fought like hell, against rivals and the car itself. To clinch a 5th and a 4th in these conditions is very good news, and we narrowly missed the podium in Race 2. We’ll try to be up there next time!”.
