2014 is the horse year in Chinese zodiac lunar calendar. As the respect to Chinese culture, Ferrari created the year of prancing horse logo, to interpret the Chinese belief of success with Ferrari’s successful heritage. 2014 Racing Days perfectly interprets prancing horse spirit on the F1 track which has always inspired many enthusiasts all over the world.

As the most popular one-make series of racing in the world, Ferrari Challenge is now in its twenty-second year since established in 1993 and Ferrari APAC challenge is also in its fourth year. It brings together complete track novices and those who already have competition experience. Ferrari APAC Challenge consisted of three different groups, including Trofeo Pirelli, Coppa Shell and Pirelli Pro classification.

The competitive races and the roar of Ferrari engines ignited the passion both on the track and in the grandstands. 37 drivers participated in the competition with the great supports of technical team from Italy. Besides of the drivers, the 458 Challenge EVO is another superstar on the track. The drivers were impressed by the improvements that the EVO aerodynamics kit has brought to the car. The new machinery, of which the large rear wing is just the most obvious element, means the 458 Challenge has much better stability and has allowed the Ferrari engineers to make it even quicker in corners while stiffer and responsive under braking.

Victory in Race 1 of the Trofeo Pirelli went to Anthony Liu (China Mainland) ahead of Philippe Prette (Hong Kong) and Angelo Negro (Hong Kong). As for the gentleman drivers in the Coppa Shell, David Tjiptobiantoro (Indonesia) took the win, crossing the line ahead of Paul Van Loenhout (Australia) and Gregory Teo (Singapore).

In Race 2 of Trofeo Pirelli, Anthony Liu (China Mainland) took the win again, beating Steve Wyatt (Australia) and Philippe Prette (Hong kong), into second and third respectively. Coming out on top in the Coppa Shell Race 2 was also again David Tjiptobiantoro (Indonesia) with Paul Van Loenhout (Australia) second and Jung Hoon Youn (Korea) taking third.

Ferrari Driver Academy Signed the first Chinese Driver

A big news announced today is Ferrari Driver Academy signed the first Chinese driver Guanyu Zhou. With great support from FASC (Federation Automobile Sports of The People's Republic of China) for scouting the drivers for many years, the young Chinese driver finally passed the strict selection and will receive systematic training in Ferrari Driver Academy. The Academy is an initiative aimed at helping develop young talents taken from motor sport arenas worldwide with the aim of training them for a future in F1. Guanyu Zhou has been recognized as the most talented young racing driver in Greater China who took third position in the final of Euro Max Challenge in 2013.

Edwin Fenech, President and CEO of Ferrari Greater China, said: "Ferrari has been promoting racing culture in China since the day that the first Ferrari entered here decades ago. We brought many driving programs to Greater China over the past years, and APAC Challenge and Ferrari Racing Days is one of the most important events to share the racing culture with super sports car lovers. Moreover, I am really glad to see that we finally found the first Chinese pilot to our Ferrari Drivers Academy, thanks to the FASC for their great support, that this initiative is definitely a big step for China’s racing sports development. I am looking forward to seeing the Chinese F1 star soon!"

Hero Models and experience programs ignite enthusiasts

Over 300 Ferraris gathered at the festival, and many guests enjoyed the hot lap driving experience with the support from Ferrari instructors, who explained to the drivers how to get the most out of their cars while driving in controlled and safe conditions.

Off track, many Ferrari models lined up in the paddock, including brand new California T, 458 Italia, F12 berlinetta and FF, many special models were also present such as legendary Enzo Ferrari, one-off 599 Chinese special edition and extreme sports car 599 GTO. Ferrari also shows its world-class capability of tailor-made service through a special display area.

Ferrari Racing Days is the real festival for all guests. Adding to the interest of the weekend were numerous entertainment and customer experience programs around the paddock and grand stand, which brought the Ferrari life-style to all guests.

At Ferrari Racing Days in Shanghai, Ferrari and Shangri-La, the Hong Kong-based hotel group, announced their sponsorship for the Ferrari Challenge. The collaboration will see Shangri-La as the official hotel partner in Asia Pacific and Europe for the legendary Italian supercar’s season of racing events.

During the racing day press conference, a good news is also announced for millions of Ferrari fans in China, that the Chinese F1 site will be launched in July during the F1British GP. This official site will be a dedicated platform for Chinese fans community to access Ferrari Scuderia’s latest updates and interact with the team.
