Under the leadership of new crew chief Cal Boprey, the Mooresville, North Carolina-based T3R2 team had a strong weekend at the 1.5-mile speedway. The team practiced well in their No. 99 PBG / Bell Trucks America Chevrolet Silverado, made it through the first round of knockout qualifying and posted their best starting position of 16th in nearly two years.

During the race, Silas methodically pedaled forward and utilizing pit strategy made his way as high as sixth, before hovering just outside the top-10. When the final caution flag of the night waived on Lap 105, the team received the free pass, putting them back on the lead lap. Under the same yellow, Silas also pitted for what the team hoped would be their final stop of the night.

As the race drew near its conclusion, fuel conservation would become a priority, but not for the T3R2 team. While several of the leaders pitted, Silas was able to remain on track and complete all 167 Laps and notch his best NASCAR Camping World Truck Series finish since last September at Canadian Tire Motorsports Park.

“It was a good night, that’s for sure,” said Silas. “Our truck was really pretty good from the moment we unloaded. Cal and the team did a good job keeping up with the tracks characteristics and (finally) luck was on our side. I had a lot of fun and I hope we can take the momentum to Gateway.”

With his first career top-10 finish in NASCAR competition, Silas advanced to 12th in the championship point standings, picking up two positions.

Next up for the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series is a trip to Gateway (Ill.) Motorsport Park for the running of the Drivin’ for Linemen 200 on Saturday, June 14. Silas has one start at the 1.25-mile oval in 2007 competing in the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards.
