Due to the split schedule, Nelson Piquet Jr. will practice No. 5 Zaxby’s Wauters Motorsports entry on Friday while Townley is in Michigan. Townley will be back from Michigan in time for Saturday morning NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Driving for Linemen 200 practice.

Townley has one start in the NASCAR Nationwide Series in 2009 posting a 21st-place finish on the 1.25-mile Madison, Illinois track. Team owner, Richie Wauters in his tenure as a crew chief has one top five and two top 10 finishes six starts on the track just East of St. Louis, Missouri.

"I’m glad that NASCAR is going back to Gateway," John Wes Townley said. "Gateway is a great track but can be challenging. Turns one and two are tight banked and shaped similar to Darlington, turns three and four are flat, yet sweeping. The straightaways are long and tight which will make for some exciting racing. I’m glad NASCAR is having the extended practice for the teams on Friday. I’ll be talking to Nelson (Piquet, Jr) to see how the truck and track are both handling before I hop in for Saturday mornings practice. I’m looking forward to putting on a good race for the fans that have waited four years for NASCAR to come back to Gateway."

The NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Driving for Linemen 200 is slated to begin Saturday, June 14, 2014 at 8:30pm CT.

Fox Sports 1 will televise qualifying at Gateway Motorsports Park at 4:00pm, with live race coverage beginning at 8:00pm. Radio coverage begins at 8:00pm on MRN & Sirius Satellite NASCAR Radio Channel 90.
