Newman at MIS ... In 25 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series events at Michigan, Newman scored back-to-back victories in the fall of 2003 and spring of 2004 events. The "Rocket Man" also owns a pole award. In total, he's recorded five top-five and seven top-10 finishes. He has led 97 laps in competition. The South Bend, Ind., native has an average start of 13th and average finish of 12th. In the last six races at the two-mile oval, the RCR driver ranks fifth in most points earned.

Engineered to Amaze ... Detroit-based Quicken Loans Inc. is the nation's fourth largest retail home mortgage lender. The company closed a record $80 billion of volume across all 50 states in 2013. Quicken Loans generates loan production from web centers located in Detroit, Cleveland and Scottsdale, Arizona. The company also operates a centralized loan processing facility in Detroit, as well as its San Diego-based One Reverse Mortgage unit. Quicken Loans ranked #1 in customer satisfaction among all home mortgage lenders in the United States by J.D. Power for four consecutive years in 2013, 2012, 2011 and 2010.

Quicken Loans was named among the top-30 companies on FORTUNE magazine's annual "100 Best Companies to Work For" list for the last 11 consecutive years, ranking #5 in 2014. It ranked in the top-15 of Computerworld magazine's "100 Best Places to Work In Technology" for the past nine years, ranking #1 in 2013. The company moved its headquarters to downtown Detroit in 2010, and now more than 8,500 of its 10,000-plus team members work in the city's urban core. Point of Interest ... Newman ranks 11th in the Sprint Cup Series championship point standings, trailing 10th place by just six markers and the current leader by 88 points, entering the 15th event on the schedule, the Quicken Loans 400.

Put to the Test ... The No. 31 team participated in a two-day Goodyear test at MIS on April 8 and 9 when chassis 462 was put into action.

Media Availability ... On Friday, Newman is scheduled to stop by the MIS media center at 1 p.m. ET to talk to members of the media.

31 Team Tweet Up ... On Sunday, members of the Quicken Loans pit crew will greet fans and give out team swag at 10:15 a.m. by the backside of the New Holland Fan Plaza, located just off the service drive.

Race Rewind ... Last season, a flat tire forced Newman to relinquish his seventh-place running spot with less than 30 laps to go in the Quicken Loans 400. The unscheduled pit stop resulted in an 18th-place finish.

Michigan is on the schedule for this weekend. What is that place like?
"Michigan is its own unique two-mile track. You really can't compare it to places like California Speedway anymore. They've kind of flip flopped. Before, California was the new pavement and Michigan was old. Now, it's the opposite. I look forward to going back up to Michigan. It's the Quicken Loans 400 race. It's an important race for us because Quicken Loans is one of our partners. We are still looking for our first win of the season and hopefully we can do it right down the road from Quicken Loans headquarters. There's double the importance for us to at least have a solid run for Quicken Loans and all of their team members who will be with us this weekend and supporting us. We actually tested at Michigan a few months back as part of a tire test for Goodyear. The track is fast, especially now with the rules package so I hope that we can build upon last week's top-10 effort."

Sunday is Father's Day. How special is the holiday for you?
"It was special for me to win the Michigan race on Father's Day a few years back because my dad was there, but I hadn't started my family yet. I won that race for him. Now I think it will be even more special to win because both my father and my two daughters will be at the track with me. Obviously now that I am a father, that's what it's all about. My kids are my biggest accomplishment or my trophies ,so-to-speak, so to win at the Quicken Loans 400 on Sunday will be even more special. I want to hoist that trophy with them by my side."
