Homecoming… Team spotter Tim Fedewa, a Holt, Michigan-native, was recently announced as one of the 2014 inductees into the Michigan Motor Sports Hall of Fame. A third-generation race car driver, Fedewa’s racing career started out at area short tracks. He went on to compete in the ASA and ARCA Racing Series ranks before moving up to the NASCAR Busch Series in 1992. Fedewa scored four wins in NASCAR’s second series before transitioning to the spotters’ stand, where he now works with Harvick and the No. 4 Budweiser Racing team each weekend. The Michigan Motor Sports Hall of Fame is a non-profit organization incorporated in 1982 to enshrine and honor individuals or groups who have excelled in motor sports in the state of Michigan. The induction ceremony is scheduled for Sunday, November 2.

Chassis Info…The No. 4 team will utilize Chassis No. 842 in Sunday’s event. Harvick last raced this car at Kansas Speedway in May where he won the pole award, led 36 laps and finished second. Prior to that race, he dominated the event at Phoenix International Raceway in March with the car, leading 224 of the event’s 312 laps before taking the checkered flag for the team’s first win of the season.

Michigan Stats... Harvick has 26 prior NSCS starts at MIS. He has earned one win (August 2010) along with five top-five finishes and 10 top 10s. He has an average start of 18.1 and an average finish of 13.8 at MIS.

Loop Data... Harvick owns a few top-10 marks in NASCAR’s Loop Data scoring system at MIS heading into this weekend's event, including: second in green flag passes (1,459 passes); third in closers (21 positions gained); and 10th in average running position (15.415).

A Look Back… During last year’s Quicken Loans 400 Harvick started 21st and finished second.
Salute... Now through August 15, beer drinkers can enter a code contained inside specially marked packages of Budweiser on Budweiser.com/donate to trigger a $1 donation to Folds of Honor, accounting for up to $1 million combined with wholesaler contributions for a more than $3 million total donation to Folds of Honor in 2014. Through scholarships and other assistance, Folds of Honor gives back to the families of soldiers killed or disabled in service to our country. Since first partnering with Folds of Honor Foundation in 2010, Budweiser and its wholesalers have raised nearly $10 million for military families, accounting for thousands of scholarships across the country.

Budweiser #SpeedTweets… Budweiser is tapping into race fans increasing affinity for social media by using Twitter to engage in a new and unprecedented way. The brewer’s latest effort, #SpeedTweets, is a Twitter-based weekly competition that will award 19 fans a trip to Charlotte, N.C., to race go-karts with Harvick. The contest runs the first 19 weeks of the 2014 NSCS schedule, with Budweiser’s official racing Twitter account, @BudweiserRacing, posting challenges throughout each race weekend. Participants (21 and older only) are required to register at Budweiser.com/SpeedTweets must follow @BudweiserRacing, and must reply to @BudweiserRacing with the hashtag #SpeedTweets in order for their answers to be considered. What is the toughest part of running 400 miles at Michigan?
“It depends on how your day is going. If you’re having a good day, it’s not really hard to tell your guys what you need and everyone is in a good mood. If you’re having a bad day, you can get behind at Michigan really fast. Usually, when you’re hooked up at Michigan, the leaders have clean air and move through traffic pretty well, but if you’re in the middle of the pack, you find yourself getting behind and going a lap down pretty quick. You’re going to end up with a green flag pit stop and a whole bunch of green flag laps. You just have to be going from the time the green flag drops and keep yourself in position at the end.”
