Nagashima Improves In Sweltering Catalunya

Japanese rider Tetsuta Nagashima shaved a further seven-tenths of a second off his best lap time today during qualifying for Sunday’s Grand Prix of Catalunya.

The 21-year-old and his fellow Moto2 riders experienced sweltering conditions during the afternoon session and Tetsuta spent most of the day aiming for consistency on his Teluru team JiR Webike Moto2 machine. He will now look forward to making some further set-up changes in tomorrow’s warm-up before the race.

At the front of the pack series leader Esteve Rabat took pole position from his team mate Mika Kallio by just over half a second. Despite this gap, just two seconds covered the top 27 riders.

Tetsuta Nagashima, Teluru team JiR Webike rider: best lap 1m 49.261s

“I'm still near the back of the grid, but I’m quite happy with the improvement since yesterday. As it was really hot, the conditions weren’t easy to handle, especially in this afternoon session, but I tried to ride consistently concerning the race distance, and I'm happy with that. I still have to find the solution to reduce the gap with the other riders, but as the race will be tough tomorrow, I would just like to make a good start and would like to catch up the guys in front in the first few laps and try my best to ride consistently as I did today. We'll make some changes for tomorrow warm-up, and I'm hoping that this change will make the set –up even better for the race.”
