2014 Le Mans 24: Weathertech Racing Six Hours Into Iron Le Mans 24

WeatherTech Racing is six hours into the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Cooper MacNeil and Jeroen Bleekemolen have taken up the challenge of driving the No. 79 WeatherTech Racing Porsche RSR prepared by ProSpeed Competition for the full 24. The duo is classified in sixth in LMGTPRO at the six hour mark.

After rebuilding the No. 79 WeatherTech Racing Porsche on Friday and into Saturday morning Jeroen Bleekemolen (Monte Carlo) had the wheel for the start of the twice around the clock French classic. With just two drivers Bleekemolen and Cooper MacNeil (Hinsdale, Ill.) will pull double and triple stints behind the wheel. As the race entered the second hour of running a rain storm rolled into a portion of the eight mile Circuit de la Sarthe track causing havoc and taking out competitors. Just before the

rain dampened the entire circuit, Bleekemolen had a tire go down on lap 15 and he had to limp the No. 79 WeatherTech Racing Porsche nearly three miles to the pit box. The team took the time to make sure there was no additional damage and the Dutchman returned to the fray. Bleekemolen logged three hours and 20 minutes in the car.

"It was definitely and exciting first stint for me," Bleekemolen said. "We had rain, two safety cars and a puncture. The tire went down as I was on the Mulsanne at 285 kph (177 mph) I just saved the car and was happy that I didn't crash. Other than the tire, we have had a faultless run. I hope we can continue like this the rest of the way."

MacNeil put in a strong first stint.

"The WeatherTech Porsche is feeling good," MacNeil said. "As I got more comfortable out there I started to dial down the traction control which is always a good sign. We have moved up to seventh from ninth and we

need to keep turning good consistent lap times. The traffic is not too bad. So far so good, I feel good after my first stint. Time for a little rest and I will be back in about three hours around midnight."

The 24 Hours of Le Mans will be televised live, in its entirety, on Fox Sports 1 and Fox Sports 2 starting on Saturday, June 14 at 8:30 a.m. ET.
