World Rallycross Championship
Vital points for Heikkinen and Marklund

Global Rallycross champion Toomas “Topi” Heikkinen (FIN) and team-mate Anton Marklund (S) narrowly missed out on the final featuring the best six drivers at the third event of the FIA World Rallycross Championship, but they did strengthen their positions in the overall classification. The two Marklund Motorsport drivers both finished fourth in their respective semi-final runs in Hell, Norway, where third place would have been enough for a place in the final. Two Volkswagen RX Supercars made it to the semi-finals for the third time in a row. The two drivers therefore picked up valuable points in the overall classification, where Heikkinen lies in a promising third place on 60 points. Overall leader is Latvian Reinis Nittis (72), who took victory in Hell.

ATS Formula 3 Cup
Marcus Pommer is the “half-time champion”

Marcus Pommer (D) is the “half-time champion” in the ATS Formula 3 Cup. The 23-year-old from Neckarsulm won the last race in Hockenheim during the fourth of eight race weekends in the German Formula talent series. Pommer relegated his fiercest competitor, Nabil Jeffri (MAL), into second place as he clinched his seventh season win “powered by Volkswagen”. It was the exact opposite result after the first race of the weekend – Jeffri secured his second win of the season ahead of Pommer. In the second race it was the two title aspirants of all people in their Dallara F311 Volkswagen who collided and were forced to retire. Consequently victory went to Sam McLeod (GB). After 12 of the 24 races this season, Pommer leads the overall standings with 218 points ahead of Jeffri on 151.

Volkswagen Castrol Cup
Wins for Kupcikas and Kruger

Robertas Kupcikas (LT) and Jeffrey Kruger (ZA) also prevented a first win of a Polish driver this year at the third race weekend of the Volkswagen Castrol Cup Poland. Lithuania's Kupcikas overtook Jan Kisiel (PL), who started the race in pole position, just after the start during the first race in Poznan, Poland. Kupcikas defended his lead as the entire field were forced to change to wet tyres after seven laps due to a shower and he clinched his third victory of the season ahead of Kisiel. Gosia Rdest (PL) finished in a strong sixth place as the fastest women in the field. In the second race, the South African Kruger recorded his first victory in the Volkswagen Castrol Cup. He certainly profited from a drive-through penalty given to Kisiel, who once again started the race in pole position, but made a false start. Kupcikas finished in third place behind Marcus Fluch (S). The Lithuanian driver Kupcikas tops the overall classification with 220 points after six out of fourteen races ahead of Fluch on 194 points. Football legend Jerzy Dudek (PL) now has a total of 61 points following his strong eleventh place finish in the first race in Poznan and is subsequently in seventeenth place overall.

Fun Cup Belgium
Colson Racing on the podium twice

The Colson Racing team secured the most championship points at the Fun Cup Belgium international event in Zandvoort, Netherlands. Drivers Philippe Crosset and Eric Gressens managed to claim podium positions three and two during the Saturday and Sunday races respectively, which both lasted for 210 minutes. Therefore they lead the overall standings in the popular mass sport racing series, where technically identical racing cars with beetle outlines are raced. The top spot in the standings of regular drivers was clinched by Allure Team 2 with Cedric Bollen, Fred Caprasse and Guillaume Mondron in the first race. In the second race the Côté Passion team with Debrus Gilles, Jean Pierre Baudart and Stéphane Charlier finished in first place.

Coming up:

21.06.2014 Fun Cup France, Magny Cours (F)
21.06–22.06.2014 FIA Formula 3 European Championship, Spa (B)
21.06–22.06.2014 British Formula 3 Championship, Snetterton (GB)
22.06.2014 Volkswagen Racing Cup, Snetterton (GB)
22.06.2014 Global Rallycross, Washington (USA)
