Spencer Gallagher Finishes Fifth at Michigan International Speedway

Spencer Gallagher and the No. 23 Allegiant Travel team earned a solid top-five finish in the Corrigan Oil 200 at Michigan International Speedway on Friday, June 13th. When the green flag waved for the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards 100-lap event, the Las Vegas native started from the ninth position reporting that his Allegiant Travel machine felt good in traffic.

The first caution flag slowed Gallagher's charge to the front on Lap 3, but on the restart he climbed a spot to the fifth position. During Lap 40, while in third place, the blue and orange Chevrolet developed a tight-handling condition. On Lap 44 crew chief Ryan "Pickle" London called Gallagher to pit road under green-flag conditions for minor chassis adjustments to combat the issue, as well as four tires and fuel. As the green-flag stops cycled through, Gallagher raced his way back into the top three by Lap 70. Four laps later, the second yellow flag of the day was displayed with Gallagher in third. The GMS Racing pit crew made another green-flag stop on Lap 83 for four tires, as well as spring rubber and wedge adjustments, and provided Gallagher with enough fuel to make it to the end of the race. As the laps wound down around the two-mile track, Gallagher battled for position and drove to a fifth-place finish and his career-best finish at the Michigan International Speedway in the ARCA Racing Series. The ARCA Racing Series next heads to Elko Speedway with Gallagher sitting sixth in the driver point standings.

Spencer Gallagher Quote:

"We had a great weekend at Michigan International Speedway. From being fast off the truck to a good qualifying effort, my GMS Racing guys had me in a fantastic car from start to finish throughout the event. Unfortunately, late in the race we experienced a mechanical problem but I was still able to get my Allegiant Travel Chevrolet home in fifth place. On to Elko Speedway!"
