2014 NHRA: Feeling Faster Than Ever, Arana Is Looking To Score At New England Nationals

Still searching for his first NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series win of the 2014 season, Pro Stock Motorcycle rider Hector Arana Jr. feels confident that it's going to happen this weekend at the Auto-Plus NHRA New England Nationals, June 19-22, at New England Dragway.

With a slow start to the season, Arana Racing has been working longer hours in the shop in hopes of returning to their usual competitive level. However, Arana thinks that his Lucas Oil Buell is ready and better than ever, just in time to return to a track where he enjoys running.

"I honestly expect to have a fast weekend," Arana said. "I'm feeling really confident that the weekend overall is going to be good for us. My bike has been running well and definitely improving from where it was at the beginning of the year.

"Hopefully, after all the hard work in the shop, my dad and brother will be just as fast and we can make it an all-Arana final."

Even if the weekend does go exactly as the oldest Arana son has planned, he knows that Arana Racing will put on a good show for those in attendance who may not normally get to see them in action.

"Epping is a smaller track but overall a really nice," Arana said. "It's nice going out there and seeing a different part of the country. Plus, being in a different area of the country brings new fans to the races, and Epping definitely has some of the best out there. I know we always have a good time when we go there no matter what happens."

Arana will look to bring home his first win of the season when qualifying sessions take place at 4:15 and 6:45 p.m., Friday, and 12:15 and 2:45 p.m., Saturday. Eliminations will start at noon, Sunday, with both qualifying and elimination action broadcast on ESPN2.
