GEICO Motorcycle's Webb Takes Points Lead To Sacramento Endurocross Event

GEICO Motorcycle Beta rider Cody Webb has a unique view of the GEICO Motorcycle EnduroCross Series race this weekend at Sleep Train Arena:

The top of the points standings.

Webb leads the standings based on performance at the first two races of the season: A victory in Las Vegas and a runner-up finish at X Games in Austin, Texas.

"After looking at the track at X Games, I was worried about how I'd do, but I ended up getting a pretty good finish and got a silver finish," Webb said. "Luckily, I was able to keep the points lead coming into Sacramento.

"It's definitely a position I've never been in before, but I'm not really going to let it worry me. It's early in the season still, and I'm confident in my riding. I've got to do what needs to be done to get the job done at the end of the night. No matter what, I'm going to go out there and do my best."

Webb kept the X Games momentum rolling with a victory in the Last Dog Standing event -- an extreme off-road race -- last weekend at Glen Helen Raceway in San Bernardino, Calif.

"That could be a good precursor," Webb said. "A lot of the guys who normally ride in EnduroCross were there, so that's some nice momentum coming into this weekend."

Webb should be more at home this weekend in Sacramento, as the track will be more like an EnduroCross track, unlike the more wide-open venue at X Games.

"Compared to what we were expecting at X Games, this track is a little bit smaller," Webb said. "I'm expecting to have a tighter track, tighter confines than X Games. ESPN wanted it built to make it look a little bigger and all the jumps were bigger. It was almost like Arenacross than EnduroCross.

"I'm expecting to be more like a normal EnduroCross, more technical, tighter. It's suited a little more to my background and riding style, so I'm looking for the track."
