Isaac Tutumlu Sets Himself Ambitious Goals In Jerez

In the second International GT Open round driving the Chevrolet Corvette C6/ZR1 entered by Selleslagh Racing Team by Barzani, the Spanish racer of Kurdish descent aspires to play an important role teaming up with Soulet. Podium in sight for them despite handicap and a new BoP penalizing car´s performance.

Round three of the International GT Open approaches for Isaac Tutumlu and Barzani Racing Team and this is the second time the driver born in Barcelona and his outfit compete at the wheel of the Selleslagh Racing Team Chevrolet Corvette C6/ZR1. On his debut in Portimao the results achieved could not any better, as pairing with Maxime Soulet they snatched pole positions, fastest laps and finished first in race one and third in race two. These results speak for themselves and prove how quick Tutumlu adapted his new car. At the moment Tutumlu lies fifth overall.

At the Circuito de Jerez Tutumlu has set himself the same ambitious goals in spite of this challenge ahead is even more difficult. At one end Selleslagh Racing Team by Barzani pair will have a 35-second handicap for race one. On the other hand there are some changes coming into effect for Chevrolets Corvette C6/ZR1 and the BoP modifies their restrictors and they will penalize cars´ performance. “Our results in Portimao were simply perfect, and our third place in race two could have been improved but the car spinning in front of me caused Montermini overtook us at that very moment. I´m looking forward to competing in Jerez, despite we have a smaller restrictor but they will affect the Chevrolets of V8 Racing as well. Let´s see how the car works there. And our time handicap for race one is huge. But we need to overcome these problems and keep fighting for the championship”, Tutumlu comments. The strategy to follow is “to reduce our handicap on Saturday and then on Sunday, if possible, targeting another podium if everything works out fine. I like Jerez. Last year I earned the pole position in my class, 3rd overall, and later I won GTS classification. Maxime has never raced there but I will try to help him every step of the way. But he is an experienced driver, so he will have no problem at all”.

There are two free practice sessions scheduled on Friday. Two qualifying sessions take place on Saturday morning and race one – consisting of 70 minutes- will start at 16.00. On Sunday race two starts – 60 minutes- at 1PM.
