K-Pax Racing Carries Momentum Into Pirelli World Challenge Midpoint At Road America

K-PAX Racing enters the halfway point of Pirelli World Challenge season this weekend at Wisconsin’s Road America racetrack, hoping to better its season-best finishes from last month’s races in Detroit.

K-PAX drivers Alex Figge and Robert Thorne will hit the 14-turn, 4.05-mile road course in their McLaren 12C GT3s – the first McLarens to be campaigned in a North American racing series in nearly 30 years – for the seventh and eighth rounds of the series. Currently, Figge sits in ninth place in the GT class, while rookie teammate Thorne is 14th. At the Detroit Belle Isle racetrack, Figge and Thorne earned a season-best fifth and sixth place finish, respectively.

Qualifying and racing are Friday, June 20 and Saturday, June 21.
Figge:

• “The McLarens will have a chance to stretch their legs a little at Road America. It’s a sprawling course that should play to their strengths.”
• “I love going to Road America. I remember going there all the time when my father raced. It brings back plenty of good memories.”
• “This has been a developmental year for us with a new car. If you break down our season on a progress per lap basis, I think we’re doing really well.”
Thorne:

• “The longer straights of Road America should really benefit the McLaren race cars in traffic.”
• “Road America is the closest track we’ve seen this season to the long, sweeping circuits of Europe – what these McLaren GT3s were made for.”
• “The races at Road America are going to be as exciting as ever with a growing roster of competition. We’re prepared for them and are looking forward to what should be a great racing weekend.”
