Jerez GT Open Preview

The International GT Open continues its course and will stop this weekend, for the third round of the season, at Jerez de la Frontera, in Southern Spain. Two weeks after his comeback at the wheel of a Porsche 911 R and to Autorlando Sport, Joel Camathias will attempt, together with his team mate Matteo Beretta, to improve the excellent results (a 5th and a 3rd) obtained at the Algarve.

On the difficult and fast Andalusian track, the Swiss will continue re-familiarizing with the peculiar driving requested by the Porsche, which he hasn’t driven since his 2012 WEC campaign, but the team is confident to do well in Spain too.

Joel Camathias:

“The Algarve results were very encouraging, but I found it challenging to drive again the Porsche. The objective at Jerez will be to continue regaining full confidence with the car. It won’t be easy because Jerez, a track I like very much, is quite technical and fast, very demanding on tires, just as the Algarve, and finding the right balance there is not easy. The likely hot weather will be an added difficulty, but I’m confident we can aim at the podium. I only hope, if that happens, that we can physically be on the podium, not like in Portugal, where we inherited the 3rd place after the race, when a rival ahead us was penalized. It’s always nice to get the cup and the cheers!”
