Andretti STAR Program Powered By Root Cause Uses Racing To Expose Local Students To Science And Technology

Andretti Sports Marketing and Root Cause have partnered to create the Andretti S.T.A.R. (Science, Technology, and Racing) Program-an initiative to teach science and engineering concepts using real-world examples from motorsports. On Friday, children from three local middle-schools-Hine, Kelly Miller, and Kramer-will take part in the half-day program, meeting with Red Bull Global Rallycross mechanics and drivers, and working with university professors to illustrate the real-world examples of STEM concepts in action.

"As someone who spent much of his young life around racing, I can safely say that motorsports sparked in me a lifelong fascination with science and technology," said Tim Mayer-General Manager, Volkswagen Rallycross DC. "The Andretti S.T.A.R. Program Powered by Root Cause is an incredible opportunity-both for these kids and Volkswagen Rallycross DC-we love our young fans, and we can't wait to introduce them to racing in this special way."

"Together with the Andretti S.T.A.R. Program, we're making real-life connections to science and technology most kids only see on TV shows and video games-up close and personal in a fun, hands-on and immersive environment," said Jason Turner-CEO, Root Cause, Inc. "At a critical educational juncture-middle school-we want children to imagine themselves working in these exciting STEM-based careers, and with access to events like this, begin to visualize a path to achieve it."

Volkswagen Rallycross DC will reintroduce professional motorsports to the Washington, D.C. area this month in an entirely new way with the Red Bull Global Rallycross Series. June 21-22, the 600-horsepower Supercars of Red Bull Global Rallycross will take over the RFK Festival Grounds for two days of intense action over tarmac, dirt, and 70-foot jumps. Featuring some of the greatest drivers and action sports stars in the world, Red Bull Global Rallycross delivers the world's most exciting racing action, with a commitment to openness and fan interaction.
