Double Top-Ten From Jack Daniel's Racing in Darwin

Jack Daniel's Racing Nissan Altima drivers Rick and Todd Kelly have both featured in the top-ten on the practice time sheets today at Darwin's Hidden Valley Raceway, with three 20 minute sessions setting the scene ahead of this weekend's SKYCITY Triple Crown.

On combined times for the day Rick Kelly sat fourth fastest, with brother Todd placed ninth, with his best time produced in the second session where he set the second quickest lap time.

The focus of the day for the duo was finding grip on the slick track surface, with both soft and hard tyres utilised during the sessions.

Saturday on track action features a pair of 10-minute long qualifying sessions, followed by two 100km races.

RICK KELLY - #15 Jack Daniel's Racing Nissan Altima:
Practice 1- 11th
Practice 2- 21st
Practice 3- 4th
Overall Practice- 4th

"It's not too bad some of the time, and it's a little bit horrid at other times, and everyone out there is struggling from the same thing," said Rick Kelly.

"The Darwin track is a very slippery one, and all of the corner exits either have a painted white line, or a little bit of concrete on the back of the kerb, which offers a lot more grip than the track itself.

"You're really just juggling the car until you get to those areas, when you can stand on the throttle.

"I don't think we're faring too bad, we didn't make any excursions into the outfield when a lot of other people did.

"We were just trying to get to grips with the lack of grip so to speak.

"All four Nissans tried a lot of things, which is really good.

"All in all we seem to have a bit of strength, depending on what tyre we're on.

"I'm excited by that, we changed a few things in the car setup wise and ergonomically at the recent test day, and they seemed to work really well.

"I'm a lot more comfortable in the car than I have been in the past, and for me that has produced a little bit better driving.

"I'm pretty happy with that, and we've just got to see where we are in qualifying compared to everyone else."

TODD KELLY- #7 Jack Daniel's Racing Nissan Altima:
Practice 1- 10th
Practice 2- 2nd
Practice 3- 12th
Overall Practice- 9th

"It's a little bit up and down, it's really tyre dependent, so it's hard to know exactly where we are because everyone is on different tyres," said Todd Kelly.

"Obviously we'll be a lot wiser after qualifying tomorrow.

"The car definitely has its strong points, I quite enjoyed the soft tyre around here, but not so much the hards.

"We've got a bit of work to do on that and see where it puts us."
