Although the team are sitting in a strong position, it is not a true reflection of the both the team and car as an unscheduled pit stop prevented Gleason from rising up the leaderboard.

Sharing a fuel pump with five other cars, Rotek Racing opted to pit Gleason earlier than scheduled to put the car on an alternate fuel strategy in order to benefit the team for the remaining 22 hours.

Upon returning to the pits, Gleason handed the reigns of the Audi TTRS over to fellow American, Robb Holland.

Speaking after his drama filled stint, Gleason said: “I feel really pumped! It was great fun out there, but it’s crazy to just how many accidents are happening out there. At one point we nearly collided with a McLaren doing 5mph when I was topping 160mph. He was unsighted and thankfully missed him by the narrowest of margins, but had I hit him, I would have been dead no doubt.”
