2014 Road America: Dylan Kwasniewski NASCAR Nationwide Race Recap

Dylan Kwasniewski made his first-career NASCAR Nationwide Series (NNS) road course start at Road America during Saturday afternoon's Gardner Denver 200 when an early mechanical failure caused trouble for the No. 42 up & up by Target Chevy, ultimately regulating Kwasniewski and his Turner Scott Motorsports (TSM) team to a 26th-place finish.

During the weekend's only NNS practice, Kwasniewski and his TSM team had speed right off the truck, laying down the ninth-fastest lap time of the afternoon. Kwasniewski then laid down a qualifying time of 134.513 seconds, which was good enough for the second starting position for Saturday afternoon's 50-lap shootout. After a slight rain delay to start the race, the green flag waved and the field jockeyed for position going into the tight Turn 1 right hander, with Kwasniewski settling into the second position as the field came back around to complete lap one. Kwasniewski continued logging laps, and was scored in the fifth position when the first caution of the day came out on lap 13. During the caution, Kwasniewski reported to his team that he had a mechanical issue and couldn't return to pit road. To help diagnose the problem, crew chief Scott Zipadelli called Kwasniewski to the garage where the No. 42 TSM team made repairs to correct the issue and returned Kwasniewski back to the track on lap 18 in the 30th position, now five laps down. Upon returning to the track, Kwasniewski and his up & up team picked up right where they left off, running top-five lap times and gaining two laps back, ultimately coming home in the 26th position.

Dylan Kwasniewski on Racing at Road America:
"We just haven't caught a break so far this year. Our up and up Chevy was so fast and we were on our way to a great finish until we had an issue during the first caution. The guys worked really hard to get me back on the track and I can't thank them enough. Our time is coming; we just have to stay patient and continue to work hard."
