2014 NHRA: Robert Hight Get First No 1 Of Season And Fan Wins Big

Robert Hight raced to his first No. 1 qualifier of the season at the 2nd annual Auto-Plus New England NHRA Nationals this weekend. It was Hight’s 46th career No. 1 and his second with crew chief Mike Neff. Hight has now joined all his JFR teammates with at least one No. 1 this season. It is the first time all four JFR drivers have earned No. 1s in the same season.

Hight’s No. 1 time was a track record elapsed time of 3.988 seconds on Friday night and it was the first three second run at New England Dragway. It was the 27th three second run in NHRA history and Hight has run in the threes on three occasions this season.

“That last round with the 4.06 was pretty stout. We were kind of on our way there on the first run today and right when it locked the clutch up it smoked the tires. (Crew Chief) Mike Neff made a couple tweaks and he told me we were real close to making it go. The closest Funny Car to us was a 4.10 so in this day and age if you have four hundredths on the field that is pretty good,” said a thrilled Hight on Saturday night.

For Hight’s stellar qualifying effort David Levesque from Enfield, New Hampshire won a washer and dry set from BrandSource. At each NHRA national event when a JFR team qualifies No. 1 a lucky fan that has signed up at the JFR “Win with Force” display located in Nitro Alley will be eligible to win the BrandSource No. 1 Qualifier Award, a front loading washer and dryer set. If a JFR driver wins the event a different fan will win the 55” flat screen TV Winner’s Circle Award from BrandSource. At the end of the season a grand prize winner of the “Win with Force” Sweepstakes will be awarded a 2014 Ford Escape S-Series.

Thanks to a winning season by John Force Racing in 2013, BrandSource gave away eight flat-screen televisions and nine washers & dryers to lucky fans. More than 24,000 race fans registered to win prizes at the “Win with Force” display in NHRA’s Nitro Alley.
Another 91,000 fans signed up online at BrandSource.com.

Fans can sign up to win at the John Force Racing interactive midway display. This 53-foot trailer will be in the Nitro Alley area of every NHRA Mello Yello Series national event in 2014. The “Win with Force” promotion now includes JFR team partners Castrol, BrandSource, Ford, Traxxas and Mac Tools, all joining together to create an incredible promotion for the fans.
