Podium Appearance For Archie Hamilton In Spain

Archie Hamilton made a podium appearance in the International GT Open Championship at the third round in Spain. The Basingstoke driver was racing at the Jerez circuit with gentleman co-driver Dierdrik Sijthoff in a V8 Racing Corvette.

The pair failed to score points in yesterday’s first race after a wheel change issue but came back fighting in today’s 50 minute race. Diederick drove the first stint and handed over to Archie with new tyres giving him the maximum pace possible. Archie took advantage and quickly worked his way through the field finishing second in SuperGT class and fourth overall.

Archie next races in the fourth round of the International GT Open Championship in Hungary on 5th & 6th July.

Archie Hamilton:
"After some bad luck this year it was great to have a podium to finish this weekend – especially on a track that didn’t really suit the Corvette. Having the wheel problem yesterday was very unfortunate and today we showed that we can have the pace to be scoring points regularly and be up there at the front. I was in a position to gain overall places towards the end of the race but decided that with no points to gain I was better playing it safe. I’m happy with second but I’ll be looking for a win as soon as possible.”
