Team Federal Oil Gresini Moto2 Looking For Improvements At Historic TT Assen

The Team Federal Oil Gresini Moto2 heads this weekend to the Netherlands for the eighth round of the season at the historic circuit of Assen confident to get back to a good level of competitiveness following the good results obtained during the two days of testing at Motorland Aragon the last 19th and 20th of June.

On the Spanish track Xavier Siméon has been able to work hard on the set-up of his Suter machine, completing no less than 183 laps over the two days and improving his feeling with the bike: the Belgian rider will therefore looking for a good result in order to forget the disappointing performance of the Mugello and the withdrawal in the last Grand Prix of Catalunya.

After winning his first World Championship points in Barcelona, rookie Lorenzo Baldassarri is confident of being able to confirm himself in the top 15 in the Netherlands: the 17-year-old Italian took full advantage of the 2-day test at Aragon, solving some set-up issues experienced in Barcelona and finding the necessary grip to be faster.

XAVIER SIMEON “We arrive in Assen hoping to find back the same feeling with the bike reached over the two important days of testing carried out at Aragon last week. If all goes as planned, we believe we can regain the competitiveness showed at the beginning of the season and that we have lost in the last two races at Mugello and Barcelona. We want to stay on top and hopefully the good work done during testing will help us”.

LORENZO BALDASSARRI “I’m very confident ahead of the Assen race weekend: in Aragon we made a very important test, setting good lap times even with high temperatures, which means a lack of grip. Although in the Netherlands should not be very hot, this kind of work could be very useful, so we are in charge and we hope to continue the path started in Barcelona with my first points of the season”.

FAUSTO GRESINI “After two disappointing races we needed to make clear some things and the tests carried out at Aragón have been really helpful: Siméon did a lot of laps and this helped him to forget the recent mistakes. Throughout the two days of testing he regained the right feeling with the bike and now we can say that we have a good base. Hopefully we can prove it in the Netherlands, bringing Xavier back to fight with the fastest riders of the category, as well as to confirm Baldassarri’s potential to get into the points, after Lorenzo clinched his first ones in Barcelona”.
