2014 Kentucky: Jimmy Weller NASCAR Truck Race Preview

No. 08 Geneva-Liberty Steel / Integrated Metal Products Chevrolet Silverado News and Notes
• First-timer at Kentucky Speedway... Jimmy Weller will make his very first start, in any series, at Kentucky Speedway on Thursday, June 26 while driving the No. 08 Geneva-Liberty Steel / Integrated Metal Products Chevrolet Silverado for SS Green Light Racing. After spending time in NASCAR's developmental ranks, Weller's 2014 race schedule is focused on learning NASCAR's intermediate tracks-those facilities that are 1.5-miles and larger. Most recently, Weller competed with the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) at Texas Motor Speedway where he finished in the 17th position. The result marked Weller's third top-20 finish in just five NCWTS starts this season.

• Working hard on and off the track... Jimmy Weller's relationship with Geneva-Liberty Steel goes far beyond the logo that fans see on the hood of his No. 08 Geneva-Liberty Steel / Integrated Metal Products Chevrolet Silverado. When Weller is not racing in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series, he can usually be found at North Jackson, Ohio-based Liberty Steel where he is learning the family business and gaining experience as a salesman within the steel processing and stamping industry. Founded in 1965, Jimmy, along with his brother and cousins, represent the fourth generation of the Weller family to become involved with Liberty Steel, which is located just 300 miles from Kentucky Speedway.
• Pursuing his passion... Passionate about racing, Jimmy Weller climbs behind the wheel of his big block dirt modified at Sharon Speedway whenever he has the opportunity. Weller grew up going to Sharon Speedway to watch his dad race, and has been competing in the big block modified division since he turned 15. This season, Weller has recorded six top-10 finishes, including a seventh-place finish in the feature this past weekend. Weller's next race at Sharon Speedway will be on Saturday, June 28th.

Jimmy Weller Quotes... On racing at Kentucky Speedway for the first time: "I'm looking forward to racing our Geneva-Liberty Steel / Integrated Metal Products Chevrolet Silverado this weekend at Kentucky Speedway. It's a pretty cool track and I thinkThursday's race will be a lot of fun. While I haven't raced here myself, I did come out to watch the Camping World Truck Series race last year to observe the different lines that guys raced and learn what I could. Being from Ohio, my family is really close to the Blaney family, and Ryan ran very well here last year, so I'll talk to him and ask questions before we go out for practice. Jason [Miller, crew chief] and Bobby [Dotter, team owner] have been coming here since the Truck Series started to race here, so I know they have a good notebook going into the weekend, too. It's been really great to have such a solid support system around me this season; it gives me more confidence going into races at new tracks and has been very beneficial in shortening up my learning curve."

No. 08 Geneva-Liberty Steel / Integrated Metal Products Chevrolet Silverado
Jimmy Weller and the No. 08 Geneva-Liberty Steel / Integrated Metal Products Chevrolet Silverado will compete with chassis No. 1098 on Thursday night at Kentucky Speedway. It is the same truck that Weller raced at both Charlotte (N.C.) Motor Speedway and Texas Motor Speedway. In those events, Weller finished 14th and 17th, respectively.
