The 21-year-old rider has been progressing well ahead of the race. At the front, series leader Esteve Rabat is on pole ahead of Britain’s Sam Lowes and Swiss rider Dominique Aegerter.

"As I knew already that I realised that I would be struggling here in Assen. I'd learned about the circuit by MotoGP video, and I tried to make laps as many as possible in the two sessions today not changing too much, and just concentrating on my riding. This had helped me to find what I have to do tomorrow and we will adjust the setting now for tomorrow. As I've understood, it is definitely a difficult circuit, but if we can find a good rhythm, I believe it is a really enjoyable track also. I still have not tried 100% yet, and I know where I'm losing the time from the others, we'll prepare everything tomorrow for giving our best in qualifying session!”
