2014 Houston: Sebastien Bourdais IndyCar Race Preview


After a two-week break, KVSH Racing driver Sebastien Bourdais returns to racing action this weekend in the Shell and Pennzoil Grand Prix of Houston presented by the Greater Houston Honda Dealers. Bourdais currently sits 12th in the championship standings with 180 points.

• The 2014 Grand Prix of Houston will be Bourdais' 122nd and 123rd Verizon IndyCar Series starts, ninth and 10th with KVSH Racing and fifth and sixth on the streets of Houston (raced twice in Champ Car).

• In four previous starts at Houston, Bourdais has won the race twice (2006 and 2007) and had a best start of second (2006).

• In 121 career Verizon IndyCar Series starts, Bourdais has won 31 races placing him eighth on the all-time list and earned 31 pole positions, seventh all-time.

• Bourdais won the 2014 Rolex 24-Hour sports car race at Daytona

• Bourdais is contesting his ninth Verizon IndyCar Series season (previously ran five in Champ Car and three with IndyCar).

• Bourdais is the only driver to win four consecutive championships, taking the Champ Car World Series title in 2004 through to 2007.

• Bourdais contested 27 Formula One races (2008-2009)

• Bourdais, 35, is a native of Le Mans, France but resides in St. Petersburg, Florida.
